Life on the Move Across the Ocean

Following the Great Travellers

  Marine Migration Across Three Continents

From Mediterranean dolphins and migrating seabirds to Atlantic whales and sea turtles, The Sea Roads crosses waters used by an extraordinary variety of marine life.

The waters surrounding Cabo Verde are particularly important for nesting loggerhead turtles and visiting humpback whales, adding valuable opportunities for wildlife observation during the Atlantic portion of the voyage.

Researchers will document encounters, record environmental conditions and contribute observations that help reveal how migrating species use connected habitats and respond to changing ocean conditions and human activity.

Research Without Borders

 Field Opportunities for Emerging Scientists

The Sea Roads brings together emerging researchers from different countries and backgrounds, including African scientists gaining access to practical marine research opportunities aboard a working expedition vessel.

Working alongside experienced crew and scientific collaborators, participants will contribute to field observations, environmental monitoring, research documentation and daily vessel operations.

From the Mediterranean coast of North Africa to the Atlantic waters of Cabo Verde and beyond, the expedition offers practical field experience, international collaboration and opportunities to contribute to meaningful ocean research.

Opportunity

Gain hands-on marine research experience while contributing to meaningful scientific projects aboard a working expedition vessel.

Collaboration

Work alongside international scientists, experienced mariners and conservation partners.

Experience

Develop practical field skills through environmental monitoring, scientific observation and daily expedition operations.
