Heart of Audacity

The Monthly Support That Keeps Independent Research Alive

Fueling the Work When No One Is Watching

No one saves the ocean alone.

The Heart of Audacity is the Foundation’s community of sustaining supporters — individuals who provide steady, recurring support that keeps independent field research moving between expeditions.

While major deployments draw attention, it is consistent monthly backing that maintains readiness, continuity, and long-term presence in the regions where oversight is weakest.

Behind every deployment is a small group of people who choose to keep the work steady, month after month.

Why Sustaining Support Matters

Independent field programmes do not operate in bursts. They depend on steady capacity — vessels maintained, systems ready, partnerships sustained, and teams prepared to deploy when conditions demand.

Heart of Audacity supporters provide the predictable foundation that allows Expedition Audacity to operate deliberately rather than reactively.

This is the support layer that keeps the mission moving between major funding cycles and headline expeditions.

Why Sustaining Support Matters

Independent field research does not run on one-off moments of generosity. It runs on continuity.

Major expeditions draw attention. Real impact depends on what happens between them — vessels maintained, systems kept ready, partnerships sustained, and teams prepared to deploy when conditions demand.

Heart of Audacity provides the steady foundation that allows Expedition Audacity to operate deliberately rather than reactively.

This is the support layer that keeps the mission moving when headlines fade.

What Your Monthly Support Enables

Heart of Audacity supporters help sustain:

  • Long-term vessel readiness and safe operations
  • Ongoing field research and environmental monitoring
  • Indigenous-led collaboration and capacity-building
  • Equipment maintenance and deployment
  • Real-time documentation and evidence gathering
  • The freedom to publish findings without delay or influence

This is capacity funding — the work that ensures Expedition Audacity is ready before the moment demands it.

Fund the Work — Not the Narrative

Heart of Audacity support does not buy influence.

It does not grant editorial control, narrative input, access to unpublished findings, or approval over where we operate or what we publish.

Expedition Audacity accepts recurring support to enable the work — not to shape it.

If our research reveals uncomfortable truths, those truths are published in full, regardless of who supports us.

That is the agreement. Every month.

Transparency You Can Trust

Heart of Audacity is built on clarity and accountability.

Monthly supporters receive:

  • Regular operational updates
  • Field progress reports
  • Clear explanations of how funds are being used
  • Public access to findings and documentation

No vague promises.
No polished optics.

Just real work, reported honestly.

Flexible by Design

You can start, adjust, pause, or stop your monthly support at any time.

Whether your contribution is modest or substantial, recurring support strengthens independence and makes the work harder to interrupt or silence.

Join the Heart of Audacity

This is not about recognition, branding, or influence.

It is for people who understand that:

  • Independent research requires consistency
  • Evidence requires time and presence
  • Integrity has a monthly cost

If that work resonates with you, we invite you to stand with us.

A Small Thank You, From Time to Time

For Heart of Audacity supporters who choose to share a mailing address, we may occasionally send a small thank-you acknowledgement — such as a handwritten postcard from a port of call, an Expedition T-shirt, or a modest souvenir picked up along the way.

These gestures are offered occasionally and at our discretion, as expressions of appreciation — not as goods or benefits exchanged for donations.

If you choose to share your birthday, you might also receive a call or message from the crew when circumstances allow — sometimes including a song, enthusiasm, or questionable singing ability. No guarantees, just good intentions.

All donations remain fully voluntary, and any acknowledgements are token expressions of thanks with no material value assigned.

Continuity Depends on Support

Sustained independent research capacity is built month by month — and gaps in support directly limit time in the field.
