Ocean research platform for science, education, and document
R/V Audacity is the Expedition Audacity Research Foundation’s primary sailing research vessel. She is configured to support multidisciplinary fieldwork, documentation, community collaboration, and expedition-based education in remote marine environments.
The vessel combines offshore capability with purpose-adapted research spaces, allowing extended work at sea.
R/V Audacity supports several core functions.

Wet and dry lab areas allow chemical, biological, and molecular samples to be handled and prepared during multi-week deployments.

The vessel supports non-invasive environmental DNA (eDNA) collection to map species presence and ecosystem conditions.

Dedicated workspaces support film, photography, and field documentation with attention to consent and context.

Through Expedition Luminescence, the vessel functions as a virtual classroom at sea, connecting students with live expedition activity.

Early-career researchers may take part in supported residencies using onboard equipment and workspace.

The vessel hosts scientists, educators, and community participants during collaborative fieldwork and documentation projects.
Built for Remote and Challenging Waters
Configured for extended work at sea.

Why R/V Audacity Matters
R/V Audacity supports fieldwork in regions where sustained observation contributes to a broader understanding of marine systems.
The vessel enables the foundation to:
Support, partner, or sail with the team
Contributions help maintain operations and research capability.
Research, education, and technology collaborations are welcomed.
Scientists, educators, and specialised crew may apply to take part in missions and residencies.
